It just happened! I just logged in the 1,000th die struck contemporary counterfeit U.S. coin variety. And I'm not done...I still have a few more new varieties to document in my spreadsheet.

There will be a follow-up post with more details before the end of the year. But this sudden increase in the number of new documented varieties is the result of a recent acquisition of a coin dealer's multi-decade accumulation of various counterfeit and altered coins.

To reflect on when I started this project nearly exactly 11 years ago, January 1, 2014, I don't know if I thought so many varieties were created over a 200 year history. This is truly a monumental milestone that I'm very happy to share with everyone.
