The 1838 Davignon 1-A was the first 1838-dated variety documented by Davignon in his counterfeit CBH books. This variety is currenty a singleton and is not positively known to be associated with any other documented varieties. It was struck on a German silver planchet with a reeded edge. Reeded edge hand-made die struck counterfeit CBH varieties are fairly rare as there are only 40 known varieties documented. This variety is considered scarce, with fewer than 20 documented examples.
This example shows Fine details with only a little bit of distracting marks on the obverse.
