The 1846 half eagle transfer die variety is currently the most common (relatively speaking) of the 10 Liberty Head half eagle transfer die varieties with between 5 and 10 examples documented. However, I've never been able to offer this variety until now. This example shows Fine details, and none of the other examples seen show better than VF details when compared against a genuine coin. This piece shows only a tiny amount of the original gold plating in the recesses of the copper planchet. In sum, an attractive piece if you just want an example for your type set or if you're working to assemble a collection of contemporary counterfeit U.S. gold coins.
Overall, I rarely have contemporary counterfeit half eagles available and they tend to sell quickly.
