1858-S TD.1-TD.M is known struck on a brass planchet, but this piece looks more like copper and may be a different planchet alloy, if confirmed, than a previously analyzed piece via XRF. This variety is still known by fewer than 5 examples. There are 1 or 2 small raised dots between the mintmark and the right side of F which help attribute the reverse die.
