This is the only documented variety of 1878-dated hand-made, die struck counterfeit Seated half dollar. The planchet is brass with little or none of the original silver plating remaining. This piece received a central puncture indent, probably after being struck by a nail to mark it as a counterfeit (just my guess). This is currently a moderately scarce variety.
