Most, if not all, hand-made die Barber dime counterfeits are rare. All varieties are currently known by fewer than 10 examples, and most are known by 3 or less. I've only documented some 5 examples of 1896 Z1-E, and among other collectors of this material my census may have missed 2-3 more. This example is attractively well circulated down to a condition of AG/G, and is the lowest grade I've seen of this variety. It is the only hand-made Barber dime variety known struck on a silver planchet, likely at the turn of the century when we see other contemporary counterfeits struck on sterling silver planchets.

If there was greater demand for this series of counterfeits, my asking price would likely be 50% higher, but we are not there yet!
